woven; a collaborative project

graphic designer

an experimentation of materials, technology, and expression woven together to create a textural publication.

this hand-made publication relied on the connection of five individuals coming together, weaving their varying interests, materials, artistic styles, and voices together. the publication is divided into 5 sections, with each designer’s contribution in its own section. the sections compound onto one another, standing solely on their own as well as within the group.

during this project, the other designers and i produced dozens of artwork every week, each representing our own interests, as well as other group member’s preferences. some weeks we focused on painting and drawing; sometimes we sourced material from thrift stores which aided in our creative process; and other times, we added onto each other’s existing pieces to create a new work entirely.

my section focuses primarily on texture, shape, and color. i found fabrics at various thrift stores throughout the city, which i then used to create all of the visual imagery. i used this publication to experiment with technology and movement by moving fabric around a flatbread scanner to create the distorted shapes shown. after that, i recreated the movements in the imagery with colorful line-work and text, creating a sense of texture, repetition, and depth.

the work included: ideation, photography and digital scans, content writing, graphic design, publication design & production

note: this publication was a collaboration among 5 graphic designers; only my individual work is shown.
